From the Sarnia Observer,Business Battles with Bell Over Internet. Virginia McFadden says she has 1500 reasons to be wary of Bell Canada. After terminating her Internet Service with the Communicatons Giant recently, McFadden said she nearly fell out of her chair when she opened a bill that included $1509.18 penalty for opting out of her contract.

“I didn’t even know I was in a contract,” said McFadden who runs McFadden Maytag on Finch Drive. (Sarnia)

“I never signed a contract with them.”

McFadden said at no time was she told she was entering into a five year contract for high speed internet service.

“I don’t even know if I’m going to be in this building for five years,” she said. “I’m so frustrated I’ve contacted a lawyer.”

The article goes on to reference a Bell CANADA spokesperson Mohammed Nakhooda who would not comment on specific customers but said, if you can believe it -”We take customer service very seriously. Our sales reps disclose all aspects (of the contract), all terms and conditions.” Yeah – sure.

McFadden cancelled the service because Bell could not make it work reliably. “For four months straight we were having problems connecting to the internet,” she said. “We sent back four modems. As far as I am concerned Bell is in breach of contract.”

The service problems took a toll on her business which relies on the internet for pricing, equipment orders, parts and more.” said McFadden. “This is a total rip off and I’m not paying a dime and I’m pulling all my business from Bell.”

And another one bites the dust!
